Bryan Brown interview at Madame Nhu

Read the Financial Review interview with legendary actor, Bryan Brown, conducted over a healthy lunch at Madame Nhu, Surry Hills:

Below is an excerpt from the Financial Review feature:

[Bryan] Brown is 76, and is not wearing a tracksuit when we meet at Madame Nhu, a casual Vietnamese eatery in Sydney’s Surry Hills. ... I order him the big bowl, selected partly because of its alliterative appeal, which matches Brown’s own, and partly because it is indeed so big and full of various meat, noodles and vegetables that I hope it will suffice. We share spring rolls and I order a squid salad.

...

We are eating now, though I fear I may have ordered too many vegetables for this quintessential Aussie bloke. “Bloody hell, is this all for me?” Brown exclaims at the vast platter, which is packed with spring rolls, meatballs, vermicelli noodles and grilled chicken, as well as a garden’s worth of herbs. “I can’t eat all that!” (He tries, but his instinct was correct: it’s a lot of roughage.)

...

The bill

Madame Nhu, 82 Campbell Street, Surry Hills

Vegetarian spring rolls, $9.50

The big bowl, $20.90

Grilled squid salad, $18.90

Total: $49.30
